I have been to theatre schools, had a lead in a play, been in an off broadway production, and done a voice over for an up coming movie. However I really want to crack into the buisiness, I know A TON of other people want this too and you probably think I am like everyone else, but I want this so bad.For awhile now it has been my dream to become a famous actress, advice?

Keep your head on straight and keep at it! Sounds like you're on the right track. Get to know everyone you work with, make friends, keep in touch with as many as possible. The more connections, the better.


And stop looking in silly places for help, --like here.
If you've had real training been in an off-Broadway production, it puts you ahead of nearly everybody else who posts that question here. Most of them want to be famous and skip the ';being an actor'; part.





I'd love to say, ';Love the craft and don't worry about the fame';, but practically, the only way to become famous is to pursue it doggedly. Nearly everybody who tries, fails, but those who don't try fail even more often.





First thing is that you have to decide on a career path: stage or screen. If it's screen, you have to move to LA. At least you come with a resume, which is better than 90% of the others in competition with you. You may even be able to get an agent, which is a huge boost.





If you want to do it from the stage, stay right where you are. (I'm assuming you're already living in New York, since you've done off-Broadway. If not, move there.) And continue doing what you're doing: go out for every audition. Get your face known; casting directors like people whom they know to be reliable.





Basically, that's the only formula: live where the auditions are, go to the auditions, and continue to get better in your craft so that you can do well at those auditions. Get a reliable agent, if you can, but you have to be a little famous to get that far. It's not guaranteed, but if it were guaranteed, you'd be in line with a million other people. (Look over the past questions to this group and you'll see that an awful lot of them are asking the same questions as you.)





About the only trick I can offer, which isn't exactly a secret, is to get a web site up with your resume and head shots. Make it a good-looking web site. Put it in the bio of every role you get. It's the best way for an agent or casting director who sees you and thinks ';maybe'; to get a little bit more information without having to put in the effort of actually calling you. Make it easy for them, so spend some money on good head shots and good web site design.





Or do the web design yourself. You may never get famous but maybe you can design web sites for other actors while you're waiting.





(You have to take any advice I give with a grain of salt. I'm not famous. Unfortunately, you're never going to get any advice from those who have actually gotten famous. And besides, as they say, ';Beware the advice of successful people, for they do not desire company.';)





Break a leg.
Your dream should be, to become an actress. Not a famous actress.





If you focus on ';being famous'; you will lose the ';heart'; of what it means to be an actress. Stop wanting it badly, when want something badly, we lose it.
Real, genuine persistence will be rewarded--but not necessarily by fame. You have to give up on the dream of fame--because it isn't something you have any control over.





What you do have control over--how honestly you work in what you do, how reliable you are when you are cast, how many people get to see your headshot or resume or card, etc. You just need to keep going to auditions, get an agent who will believe in you and put you out there, be opportunistic, be proactive in sending your stuff around. Eventually, you will get a reputation for being dependable and solid.





But star quality--that comes from being in the right place at the right time. It's never likely to happen, but it's more likely to happen when you're working a lot.





And then, the value of what you do. You can't control whether you are good or not. That is determined by the play, by the production, your fellow actors, a whole host of things. But you can always be committed and honest. Be that.





Congrats on the good work. Keep your chin up, and be ready to take chances when they come your way.
No you AREN'T like somebody else. ALWAYS remeber that. If you have the urge to act, you WILL get there. I know that sounds stupid, but at least in this case I know that it's true. Alot of other actresses out there are totally fake, but the ones who actaully WANT it WILL make it!

Keep auditioning, taking classes and go to school for it. You don't say how old you are, but honestly, go to college/university for it as well to learn more, and you can even learn more about stagecraft/lighting/etc. to earn a bit of money and make you more of a 'renaissance' theatre person who can lend a hand behind the scenes on smaller projects (and also to make some cash in between gigs).
