Hi, I would like to sell plants on ebay, does anyone have any advice on how to package the plant for posting.?

you should grow them in somethink like vermiculite so you can send them just roots to save on postage costs, or if you grow them in soil you will have to plastic up the soil and rootball. i would get some clingfilm and wrap it round the root ball and soil and keep the plant slightly damp, and when posting loosly place the packing material round it, dont squash it down, and post in a fast delivery.Hi, I would like to sell plants on ebay, does anyone have any advice on how to package the plant for posting.?
I've bought plants from ebay and mostly the packaging has not been good - plants arrive with new shoots broken, and sometimes the package itself is so tightly wrapped it's a real pain to open.

Loads of cling-film and parcel-tape is best avoided if you don't indicate to the recipient how they can get inside the package without damaging the contents!

I'd try the old-fashioned way: Gently Wrap the roots in wet / damp muslin. Or newspaper.

If the plant is very delicate, a bit of cotton-wool put gently around it also helps.

Then pop in a plastic carrier bag, blow air into it and tie a knot so the plant's protected in a cocoon.

Gently but firmly tie a bit of thread (or use an elastic band)around the plastic bag (to hold the plant in place) around the roots.

Then carefully bubble-wrap (one layer) ~ bit of sellotape to fix.

Then brown paper to wrap. Sellotape to protect in case paper gets ripped.

Clearly label package as: PLANTS: FRAGILE.

Rethink: Shredded paper better than cotton wool!Hi, I would like to sell plants on ebay, does anyone have any advice on how to package the plant for posting.?
Sorry but Rachellie is right, it is in fact illegal to put plants in the post ESPECIALLY if you are sending them overseas. Plants, like animals, carry diseases and need to be quarantined if being sent to other countries. If you send plants through the post without doing your legal homework then you risk being prosecuted. My personal opinion- stick to the boot sales as has already been recommended!!!! If you are insistent then call the DEFRA helpline for advice before you start, their number is 08459 33 55 77.
Take the plant out of the soil if young and pack the roots in damp tissue inside a plastic bag. Put an outer of reinforced cardboard to stop damage in transit.

If it is a mature plant tape the pot in a plastic bag so the soil cannot escape and put inside a rigid cardboard box that gives the growth enough room to not be damaged.
it would be better to sell at car boots lots of people do even the market men i was told by one he makes more money there then markets
your not allowed to..................
