What would your advice be to someone who ';overdosed'; on a purely homeopathic treatment?

Get it documented as much as possible.

If you were able to, then it would create a lot more evidence in the homeopathy controversy, since most people think ';homeopathy is not real and the same as water,'; a statement the documentation effectively disproves.

If the person really was actually sick from an overdose (which I don't think is very likely), you'd probably have to do your treatment based on the symptoms they exhibited, rather than a general detox procedure. Drinking a lot of water, peeing and resting might help regardless, but given what I understand of homeopathy, it's completely symptom dependent. What would your advice be to someone who ';overdosed'; on a purely homeopathic treatment?
You cannot overdose on homeopathic medicines. It is impossible.

Because homeopathics are made from the essences of plants, and continuously diluted to where there is nothing but the ';energy'; of the plant left in the water, it is impossible to OD on homeopathics. What would your advice be to someone who ';overdosed'; on a purely homeopathic treatment?
Homeopathy preparations contain absolutely no chemicals or therapeutic agents whatsoever so I would advise them to do nothing at all.
When are ';natural-cure'; types going to get it through their heads that ';natural'; cures contain chemicals?? The most potent medications on ANY pharmacist's shelves come from plants - digitalis, codeine, morphine... the list goes on and on. Just because it's ';natural'; doesn't mean the chemicals in it are the LEAST bit different from the ones put together in a lab. A molecule from a plant is no different AT ALL from the same molecule synthesized in a lab.

As to my advice:

1) Don't do it again; taking more than is recommended of ANYTHING is just a bad idea all 'round.

2) Never assume that just because something is ';natural'; that you can use it indiscriminately, or that it isn't completely capable of killing you; you can walk into any garden and find a half-dozen plants capable of killing you. Chow down on foxglove, for instance, and you will shortly be history unless you get medical help, as it's the source of digitalis, which can cause massive changes in your heart's rhythm, and can also cause toxicity of the liver because that's how it's metabolized. Sip enough Jimson weed tea, and your nervous system and the ability to control your body temperature are quickly down the tubes.

And to the first answerer: Yes, you CAN overdose on saltwater (hypernatremia) - or plain water (hyponatremia), for that matter; either one in sufficient quantities can kill you by altering the sodium levels in your body, and in turn interfering with your heart's ability to beat regularly; sodium levels in proper amounts are ESSENTIAL to the electrical functioning of the various nodes in the heart. Look 'em up online if you don't believe ME - there's plenty of documentation out there.

Too much of ANYTHING is a very bad idea, as a rule, so just don't DO it any more!
I guess this person is now suffering from hyperhydration- as this is the only possible ill effect from 'criminally' expensive plain drinking water.
There is no concept of overdose in homeopathy. They are tested and marketed for low dosage and without harmless ingredients.
You cannot overdose on saltwater.
It's been tried before: (http://csicop.org/si/2004-05/belgium.htm鈥?/a> )
Keep on taking it. More is better.
If you did it?

Take some more!

Maybe you would get an adverse reaction and stop asking stupid questions
You can't overdose on a Homeopathic remedy BUT if you take a 'badly chosen' remedy for too long you can experience 'proving symptoms'. These will stop as soon as you stop the remedy!

(Every Homeopathic remedy has been tested on healthy adults in provings. All the symptoms experienced by the provers are written down and we then know what this particular remedy will be helpful in treating!)
Nice straw man.

PS: This statement is akin to saying 'if you ate TOO healthy and had TOO sensible an exercise program how would it hurt you?' and then concluding that exercise and healthy eating are not important since they can't kill you.

that's how twisted the logic of the drug companies and MD (their salemen) is.
